Do Positive Affirmations Work?

By: Greg Frost

What we think our minds can be made a reality, and by consistent repetitive optimistic proclamations, you can creative positive subconscious thoughts. Positive affirmations work only when they are translated into action. By conditioning your mind through positive affirmations, you can rid off those self-degrading thoughts, to have a mind that constantly thinks of succeeding instead of failure. Why is it then that you feel that your affirmations are not working?

Seeing Results

There can be many reasons why your affirmations may be ineffective for you, and to first know the crux behind the workings of positive affirmation, we first have to learn the relationship between our emotions and our affirmations.

Positive affirmations may be something like of “I am going to buy a big car”. The desired result may be far from being reached, but the key is in persistence. There are a few reasons why your affirmations are not working, or that they are producing limited results. You must first believe in your affirmations before it can create an impact in your life.

How to make them Work

1. Use Present Tense
Always make sure to phrase your positive affirmations in the present tense. Instead of the phrase “going to”, try using the phrase “have”. This would create an illusion showing that whatever you are desiring to happen is happening at this very present moment, rather than something that is waiting to happen in the future.

2. Avoid Negativity
Proper phrasing to avoid usage of negative words is also essential for our positive affirmations. This is easier said than done, as people are very likely to fall into this pit-hole. Instead of using the affirmation “I am no longer poor”, try substituting it with a more powerful one, such as “I am well off”. Usage of more positive words can enhance the chances of achieving our desired result, and does not carry a hint of any unwanted scenarios which may confuse the subconscious.

3. KISSS
We also have got to keep in mind that our affirmations have to be kept simple and short. Get to the point, and make it specific, so that you do not confuse your subconscious with unnecessary words.

Lastly, the use of different methods can help make your affirmations more effective. Examples of such methods include, constant repetition, mixing it with your emotions, persistence and beliefs. Try implementing these elements when you create your positive affirmations, looking out for your phrasing and other tips that may make them less effective. With constant practice, you can soon achieve the goals that you set out to attain.
