Vitamins For Migraine Headache Prevention

You should consider consuming vitamins for migraine prevention as studies show the link between an increased risk of developing debilitating headaches when you are deficient in certain vitamins and minerals. If you eat a balanced health diet, then this is not likely to happen. Then again, most of us do not eat well for a variety of reasons. For migraine prevention, I suggest that you try the following take supplements; especially of B2 (Riboflavin), B6 (Pyridoxine), Calcium and Magnesium.

In fact, you may already have heard about Magnesium being effective in reducing the frequency and intensities of your migraine headache. Studies show that if you suffer from migraines you probably do not have enough of this mineral in your brain. This headache pain treatment product is required for the proper performance of serotonin.

In addition, magnesium affects your arteries. When your body is low in magnesium, your arteries will constrict more. So, you may wish to consume more dark green leafy vegetables, whole grains, seafood, beans and nuts. However, do take a note in what you eating because some of these foods, like nuts, can also trigger headaches. For this reason, you may wish to consider Magnesium supplements instead.

Calcium is another mineral that can be found in dark green leafy vegetables. Other sources of calcium are found in dairy products and seafood. If you are taking Magnesium supplements and decide to take Calcium supplements too then you should know that you cannot take them at the same time of the day because Calcium can block your ability to properly absorb Magnesium. Therefore you should take take them at different times of the day; say one in the morning and the other in the evening.

Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) and Vitamin B6 have been proven headache pain relief products that will reduce the number of migraines you will have. While you may prefer to take a B complex supplement, please note that the other B vitamins are not proven headache pain treatment products. However, you may still wish to take the other B vitamins nonetheless, as they are known to reduce the risk of strokes.

It is best to check with your doctor about consuming the above mentioned vitamins for migraine headache prevention. Ask him about the recommended dosages that you should take. You should always ensure that you eat more healthily so that you get natural sources of these vitamins. By all counts, taking these vitamins for migraine headache prevention and care is definitely better than popping in pain relief drugs!
